First meeting of the season

We held our opening meeting of the 2018/19 season at Queens Drive Primary School on Tuesday 11th September.

The meeting took the form of an artists’ question time and we spent an enjoyable evening looking at an excellent range of paintings, lino-prints and other artworks. Again we were reminded of the rich pool of artistic talent that exists within the Society.

The evening also included a sales table, and provided us all with the opportunity to catch up with friends after the summer break.

Our Next Meeting

On Tuesday 25th September, we shall welcome Rob Miller to our meeting - Rob will give a demonstration of oil painting with the subject being ‘Gardens’.

Rob is best known for his landscape and seascape paintings of Lancashire, Yorkshire, the Lake District and the Hebrides. His work is displayed at many galleries in Northern England.

Rob’s father was an artist and organised a small studio for Rob, aged 10 years, on the landing of their home in Blackburn.

Recently, Rob has begun to paint garden scenes, particularly a walled garden at Langholm and the studio garden of his home in the West Pennines.

The meeting will start at 7.15 p.m. at Queens Drive Primary School.
